LED light bars

What is your goal buying a light bar ? Do you intend to go for a walk, camp, hunt, or do any other activity that lasts until after sunset and the surroundings gets darker? Or just showing off?

Size – Some light bars are 4 feet wide and can be installed anywhere, while others are 5 feet wide and are meant to be mounted on a roof. Fill in the size of the light bar that suits your needs, don’t just buy.

Colour – not just a different size, you can have lights that change colour. Using a different coloured light bar can be really cool on occasions, but it can also have real benefits on the job site
Bluetooth – If you don’t want to use a traditional switch, try a smartphone app that lets you control the light bar via Bluetooth. It’s a smart choice when you’re outside and need to turn the lights on or off.

Installation equipment – Check the light bars you’re interested in to see what’s included. Some provide only the light bar itself, while others offer kits with mounting brackets, nuts, bolts, relays, switches and cables.

Installing the light bar requires only basic tools. Just a good set of sockets and ratchets, extensions, and maybe a set of hex wrenches (Allen wrenches). If the mounting kit was not included at purchase and you are joining the cables, also prepare a multimeter and wire cutter / crimper. If you are making your own bumper mounts on your truck you will also need a drill.

Open the wiring harness, snap the light bar in place and see how it looks. Use double-sided tape to attach the lightbar before drilling the holes. Make sure the installation location is aesthetically and the range of the light emits is wide and far enough.

Take two measurements and one drill, then tighten the bolts. Connect the positive and negative wire connections to the light bar, then run the cables through the firewall and connect the terminals to the on / off switch. Then connect the positive wire to the battery and find a solid ground for the negative wire.
Test the light bar at night in an empty spot or parking lot, and aim it to maximize the light output distance and range.
